Ed has had the opportunity to engage in a fairly diversified
practice of law, including trial work, estate and probate, domestic and
family law, business, corporate, banking and school law.
Ed was born in 1931 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1955, earning The Order of the Coif. While at the University, Ed's major achievement was his marriage to the former Joan Hanson.
Ed spent two years in the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate.
Ed and Joan consider their family of six children and thirteen grandchildren to be their major accomplishment. Both have been involved in various civic organizations.
Joan has been active in Junior League, the Catholic Social Services Organization, Friends of Lied, President of the Cathedral of the Risen Christ Altar Society, Friendship Home Board, Madonna Foundation, and was president of the Lincoln Law Wives.
Ed served as a member and chairman for five years of the Lincoln Lancaster County Planning Commission. He was president of the Sierra Club and a board member of the Lincoln Country Club and Arnold Folsom Zoological Society. He is a past chairman of the board of Madonna Centers, Inc.
Ed is presently general counsel of Union Bank & Trust Company and a trustee and counsel of the May L. Flanagan Foundation.
Ed
is past president of the Nebraska State Bar Association and a past chairman
of the House of Delegates of the Nebraska State Bar Association. He is
a past president of the Lincoln Bar Association and the Nebraska Council
of School Attorneys and is a Fellow of both the Nebraska and American Bar
Foundations.
